Australian shares have continued higher as a lack of trade war headlines help bring stability to markets after weeks of tariff-induced volatility.

The S&P/ASX200 pared early gains to finish up 27.5 points, or 0.35 per cent, to 7,995.7, as the broader All Ordinaries lifted 25.9 points, or 0.32 per cent, to 8,201.
Nine of 11 local sectors gained on Monday but talk of fiscal stimulus for China's economy was not enough to lift the materials sector, which was down 0.6 per cent.
Energy and IT stocks performed best, up more than 1.4 per cent each, tracking respectively with higher oil prices and a solid Nasdaq performance on Friday after US tech earnings beat expectations.
The Australian dollar is buying 64.04 US cents, up from 63.71 US cents on Thursday at 5pm.
