My name is Anne-Maree Rourke.
What do you do with yourself?
I used to work as a cultural activities officer at RMIT University for 21 years.
What is your connection with the Goulburn Valley?
Although we grew up in Southern NSW, my Rourke ancestors have been in the GV since 1841. My great-great-grandmother Annie Ford lived in Tallygaroopna and ran the pub. Her sister married into the Inglis family, and their relatives are still in the district, including my sisters, who live and work here.
How do you enjoy spending your free time?
I enjoy gardening, searching out new food and art, and keeping up to date with current affairs and reading.
What advice would you give your younger self?
Be true to yourself, understand yourself and take every opportunity that will make you the person you want to be. Pursue the things you want and believe in yourself.
