The ‘Lockyness Monster’ has undergone major surgery and has now returned home to the Lockington Channel.
The Lockyness Monster was created by district resident Bob Watts and was released in the channel on the first day of the millennium.
Made from recycled wheelie bins, Bob designed this creature to resemble a yabby.

Mr. L. Byrne, of the Power House, Rochester, met with an experience while fishing in the Murray recently that does often befall the angler.
He left his line, with the hook baited, in the water while having tea, placing the rod loosely on the bank.
On returning, the whole rig-out had disappeared.
He started fishing with a fresh rod and line at the same spot, and getting hold of something which he thought to be a snag started to haul it home.
To his surprise he found it was the lost rod and line … on dragging it in he found a 13lb cod attached, and he successfully grassed the monster.
In the November number of the Motor Transport it is said that in Australia we are paying for petrol 3/6 per gallon; in England 2/3; in American 10½d.
Now read the interesting returns of the Anglo-American Oil Company, who have paid away in dividends this year a sum almost equal to their total capital.
On a working capital of about £7,800,000 the total sales of the American Oil Company for their financial year amounted to over £40,000,000.
Motorists might well ask when is the price of petrol coming down?
