The studs will open their gates on selected dates from January 29 to February 5, with up to 7000 bulls on show representing 15 breeds.
Beef Week director Annie Elliott said the event offered the perfect opportunity for studs to open their gates and showcase their quality herds to new and existing clients and seed-stock producers.
She said this year’s registrations include 20 new stud listings, as well as many returning studs — some of which have been with the event since Beef Week’s inception in 1991.
“We are pleased to re-launch our Heifer Challenge competition this year,” Annie said.
“Twenty studs have registered to compete against each other with a pen of 10 heifers representing nine breeds.
“The heifer challenge will be a perfect opportunity for studs to showcase their female herd progeny.”
Beef Week is conducted by the not-for-profit body, Stud Beef Victoria, which represents all breeds in the state via a sub-committee.
