Club member Don Allen said this was a walk that fellow member, John Boehm, had planned for November 17.
“The weather on December 8 was thankfully a lot better for bushwalking,” he said.
“We left the cars at the Powder Magazine car park, one kilometre from Beechworth.
“The plan was to walk downstream to the Woolshed Falls, but unfortunately, the Spring Creek Bridge is now closed.
“There was no safe way to cross, so we had to return to the Powder Magazine car park and drive around to Woolshed Falls car park.
John then led us along the Spring Creek track towards the Cascades.
Don said it was a perfect day for a walk beside the creek, through the forest and past some old gold diggings.
“But we were dismayed to see so much of the creekside infested with invasive blackberries,” Don said.
“A short hilly section of the track was through private land.
“We paused for a relaxing lunch, and maybe a paddle, beside the babbling Spring Creek.
“Most walkers then opted to continue on to the cascades, to photograph the falls from the viewing platform.
“We retraced our steps to Woolshed Falls, for another brief chance to photograph the falls before a well-earned afternoon tea in the shade.
“Thank you John Boehm for a great walk.”
