A change to the NSW-Victorian border restrictions means country Victorians will be able to travel to Barham, Deniliquin and Wentworth.
The Victorian Government has included the Edward River Council in its border bubble area and removed the requirement for permits.
NSW Member for Murray Helen Dalton said it was a huge relief to border communities, especially all those businesses that relied so much on customers from the other side of the Murray.
“What this means is that Victorians can come to Barham, Wentworth, Deniliquin and other small towns to have a meal or stay in a hotel,” she said.
“It will provide a much needed stream of revenue to businesses who have done it extremely tough for two years.”
Mrs Dalton said her office continued to be inundated by confused constituents, who were struggling to keep track of rapidly changing border rules.
“There was no justification to exclude Edward River from the border bubble,” she said.
“They had no COVID-19 cases, and we pleaded with the Victorian Government to reverse their decision.”
