The 49 students selected their own placements, based on interests they have or careers they might like to pursue.
Early childhood and primary school education were popular as always.
Other industries explored by the students included veterinary science, dentistry, medical and fitness, forestry and natural resources, mechanics and disability services.
Before finishing her work experience with the Pastoral Times on Friday, Chelsea Flannigan chatted with some of her classmates about the week-long program and their experiences.
David Ingram - Fit Now! Deniliquin
“Although I wanted to do information technology, they told me it would be too quiet and I wouldn’t have much to do. So I decided to come to Fit Now! instead as it was another place I wanted to go. Being able to work with the staff Lawrence and Daniel has been enjoyable, my favourite part was helping them with promotion.”
Grace Ball - Mayrung Primary School
“I decided to do work experience at Mayrung School as I was thinking about teaching as a possible career path. Mayrung School has been a great place for interactive and intensive learning, with opportunities to do lots of different activities. The thing I loved most about my time here was getting to interact with all the kids and teaching them important things like nouns, verbs and adjectives.”
Brianna Bydder - Navorina Nursing Home
“Nursing is something I’ve always wanted to get into. I have always enjoyed helping and observing other nurses when they help the residents with things they may be unable to do themselves, or even just giving them a boost and assisting them makes me so happy knowing they can get help. Something I enjoyed the most was talking to the residents and getting to know them better, as well as the staff that were there.”
