June is men’s health month, and Mind Australia lead practitioner for flood recovery Callum Fleming believes it is a good opportunity for the men of Rochy to catch up.
The first dinner was held on June 5 at the Rochester Hotel, and Mr Fleming was happy to see 18 men come along.
“It was a fantastic turnout, with great conversations about how things are going, good or bad,” he said.
“It’s nice to see everyone mingling.”
Mr Fleming said attendees at the first dinner told him they got a lot out of the night and will encourage their friends and colleagues to come along to the next events.
The Shamrock will host the Wednesday, June 12 dinner from 5.30pm, offering a free meal and a chance to connect with other men in the community.
These dinners are backed by the Campaspe Flood Recovery Hub, thanks to grant funding from the Murray Primary Health Network.
Upcoming dinners will be on Wednesday, June 19 at The Tavern and Wednesday, June 26 at the Criterion Hotel.
There is no sign-up or RSVP process, men can simply turn up and enjoy a meal and a chat.
“It’s about reaching out, having a chat and an organic conversation,” Mr Fleming said.
“We want to make it as easy as possible for people to feel comfortable.”
Mind Australia has been active in the Rochy community through the Campaspe Flood Recovery Hub, participating in knitting groups, Food Share, and Rotary breakfasts.
