On Saturday, the star all-rounder produced a stunning display to lead the premiership contenders to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Bamawm-Lockington United.
Cuttriss tore through the home side’s batting order with three vital wickets, including the prize scalp of Liam Hamilton (40 runs) who threatened to power BLU to a monster score.
He would also run out Jeremy Felmingham for a duck, but Cuttriss was only getting started as Rochy limited BLU to 9-161 from its 45 overs.
In response, Rochester looked to be on track for a comfortable victory even when Cuttriss came in at 5-114.
Then the wickets started to tumble around Cuttriss, but his composure shone through at the crucial time.
He would eventually finish on 30 not out to guide his side to a nail-biting one wicket win.
Rochester captain Sean Williams said he was thrilled to have escaped with the victory.
“We’re very fortunate to have Dylan in our team,” he said.
“When you have someone of his ability it gives the other players in our side a lot of confidence.
“The game was an interesting one actually because we were well in control after the first 20 overs of our innings.
“Then to BLU’s credit they put us under a lot of pressure, but we managed to pull through.
“We’re really pleased to start the season with two straight wins.”
Last season, the result between BLU and Rochester would have almost been a foregone conclusion before a ball had been bowled.
But BLU has shown it will be no easybeat this season after defeating Tongala in the opening round.
“They have definitely improved which is only going to make for a stronger competition,” Williams said.
“They’ve got a good mix of youth and experience and I look forward to playing them again later in the season.”
In other A grade matches, Echuca South, Echuca and Kyabram Fire Brigade all recorded wins.
Rochester’s B grade side also continued its perfect start to the season with a strong win over Moama.
Brandon Byrne and Joel Bunce both recorded knocks in the 70s.
Meanwhile the C grade side went down to Girgarre by five wickets.
