Echuca water tower maintenance on schedule

Coliban Water has provided an update regarding maintenance works to the Echuca water tower.

A spokesperson said work on the historic tower was progressing in line with the organisation’s schedule, although it was taking time due to the delicate maintenance process and the structure’s age.

Strengthening works around the tower’s base were completed during the week beginning Monday, November 11, and additional traffic management requirements have now been removed.

The installation of scaffolding around the structure began on the week beginning Monday, November 18, which will allow staff to undertake a closer assessment of the tower, the spokesperson said.

Initially, a contractor will begin minor repair works to the tower surface, with further works to be completed in coming months as determined by the assessment.

Temporary fencing and tower scaffolding will remain in place until maintenance works are completed, the spokesperson said.

More information will become available in the coming weeks, with another update expected in December.
