Christmas should be a joyous time, but for many impacted by floods, it is incredibly challenging.
Recognising many families are in temporary accommodation or staying with friends and family, the ‘GIVIT Together this Christmas’ campaign encourages generous donors to support the purchase of gift vouchers to allow families to select items suitable for their children, and situation.
“Many of our region’s most vulnerable children and families have lost their homes and belongings and face a long road ahead as they find secure housing and battle with the cost-of-living pressures to get back on their feet,” GSF executive officer Amanda McCulloch said.
“The GIVIT Together this Christmas campaign is run through the GIVIT platform to ensure it has national exposure, but we are asking our local community to give generously this Christmas and support families and children who need it most.”
Run in partnership with local primary schools to identify and assist those families most in need, the campaign was launched at Mooroopna Park Primary School on Thursday and will run until Sunday, December 20, with vouchers delivered to primary schools before the end of term. Primary schools are encouraged to register their interest by emailing info@greatershepparton.foundation
