Raising $550 for the men’s shed, the funds were used to purchase new cordless power tools.
“There are no cords in the workshop,” volunteer Steve Harris said.
“Most of the people are in their late 70s, 80s.
“It avoids trip hazards, and it’s much safer.”
Mr Harris is grateful for the donation from the club, and is impressed with the quality of their new equipment.
“It’s sure of a fantastic quality,” he said.
“DeWalt - you can’t get much better than that.
“It was a great amount of money for us to actually keep that program going.”
Each year, the golf club holds a charity day, spreading awareness and fundraising for motor neurone disease.
Local groups, like the men’s shed, also receive a portion of money raised from the events through ticket sales, an auction and raffle.
Rochester Sportspower and Nutrien Ag Solutions sponsored the 2024 edition, held over the AFL grand final long weekend.
The Rochester Men’s Shed is located behind REDHS at 1 Pascoe St, Rochester.
