The club will host the fundraiser on Saturday, July 27, coinciding with local favourites The Bin Chickens' performance, promising a fantastic night of entertainment.
The initiative, spearheaded by event coordinator Kay Blakeley, will support the McGrath Foundation in its mission to provide essential care and support to individuals and families in regional areas affected by breast cancer.
Ms Blakeley, a devoted advocate of the foundation since 2014, was inspired by her late best friend’s battle with breast cancer. She has since raised over $100,000 supporting regional breast care nurses.
“I am hugely grateful to Alex and Jo for their courage and generosity in volunteering to shave their heads for such a worthy cause,” she said.
“Thank you also to Club Corowa for hosting the event, your support is greatly appreciated.”
The McGrath Foundation funds McGrath Breast Care Nurses who offer invaluable support from diagnosis through treatment, free of charge and without referral.
These nurses play a crucial role in providing practical and emotional support to individuals across Australia, including many in regional and rural areas where access to such care can be challenging.
Since 2005, over 137,000 families have received assistance, highlighting the foundation's vital role in breast cancer care nationwide.
“Breast cancer doesn't just affect individuals; it touches entire families and communities,” Ms Blakeley added.
Donations for the fundraiser can be made on the night at Club Corowa, where collection tins will be circulating. Additionally, members of the community can also contribute to the fundraiser at local businesses such as Thrive in Corowa, Barrell and Brew, and Corowa Curtains and Décor, where donation tins will be placed.
