The funding, facilitated jointly by the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage and Murrumbidgee Council, aims to safeguard the rich cultural legacy of these iconic landmarks.
The successful recipients were:
• Toganmain Woolshed - $4,771 to fix the drainage situation in the shearers' quarters.
• Hay Road (former church), Darlington Point - $7,730 to repair doors and window frames.
• Catholic Church, Darlington Point - $4,290 to upgrade and enhance the lighting for better visibility.
• 2 Punt Road (café), Darlington Point - $6,860 to paint exterior of building.
Included in the funding allocation were consultation fees for the local heritage advisor.
Murrumbidgee Council Mayor Ruth McRae said the funding was vital in preserving our area’s rich heritage and ensuring the longevity and integrity of these significant buildings for generations to come.
“Each of the successful recipients has demonstrated a deep commitment to preserving the distinctive heritage of our area,” Cr McRae said.
“Their efforts will help safeguard the stories and craftsmanship that are integral to our community’s history.”
As part of the funding agreement, recipients will match the funding on a dollar-for-dollar basis and complete the projects by the end of 2025.
