The collective aims to create a safe space for community members to share their experiences and knowledge, as well as learn new strategies to support wellbeing and mental health.
The sessions will take the form of group support sessions facilitated by Bern Wright and Rachael Else.
According to REDHS interim chief executive Darren Clark, evidence shows that group support sessions can provide community members with valuable support.
“There is overwhelming evidence that suggests support groups, community groups and social interactions promote good mental health after significant traumatic events,” he said.
“Pairing this with learning the skills and strategies to support mental health now and in the future will build capacity for community members to take control of their wellbeing.“
The meetings are open to anyone in Rochester as well as surrounding communities and is free of charge thanks to funding from the Bendigo Community Banks of Elmore, Lockington and Rochester.
The first meeting will be held on Thursday, October 10, from 5.30pm to 7pm at the Rochester Recovery Hub on Mackay St, and will be catered.
The sessions will continue to be held every Thursday on a fortnightly basis.
Bookings are not essential, however for catering purposes they are preferred.
