That’s where the idea of an intra-club competition came about.
In recent weeks, players have been divided into four teams – the Moons, Nights, Plutos and Suns.
Marg Knight, who is part of the organising committee, said it was the perfect way to keep people involved.
“Usually we would have a team compete in division of mid-week pennant competition,” she said.
“But the COVID-19 pandemic has had a bearing on the structure of the league meaning everyone is in just one division.
“We thought it would have been very difficult given some of our players are still new to the game.
“I’m glad the club was unified in its decision.
“Now everyone has the opportunity to play together.”
Aside from the intra-club competition, Knight has also played a big role in setting up a coaching program at Rochester which has helped to attract new members.
“It’s something we’ve been doing for most of the year,” she said.
“Our goal was to attract some younger members when in the past bowls was always described as an older person’s game.
“We have about 30 ladies at the club now which is really exciting. It can take a lot of work, but I’ve got some great support around me.
“Bowls is a very addictive game and that’s something which has been shown by the number of people involved at the club.”
