The Rochester High School class of 1972 held a reunion at the Rochy Wine Tavern on Friday, October 25.

The 32 former classmates and their partners gathered from near and far including Canberra, Perth, Brisbane, Hamilton, Melbourne, Bendigo, Shepparton, Trinity Bay and Barmah.
One of the organisers Joan Jenkins, said it was an emotional reunion and was enjoyed by all.
“It was overwhelming at some stages because when you haven’t seen people for so long, the tears, the hugs and the emotion are all there,” she said.
“They were just so glad that they had made the effort because they had a fabulous time.”
The group enjoyed lunch at the Wine Tavern as they caught up on the years.

The day started at 11am at the Tavern, where the group were able to reminisce about their school days over lunch.
There was a set up of photos on display as well as their old uniforms and other items from their history.

After a photo session at the Rotunda and the Rochy silos, the group enjoyed coffee and cut into some cakes decorated in their school colours.
Diane McGuire and Liz Hornsby celebrated their 70th birthdays together with their classmates.

Two of the attendees, Diane McGuire and Liz Hornsby, also celebrated their birthdays at the reunion.
A few of the guests returned home after the Friday, while those who stayed on, met up again the following Saturday.
The group enjoyed another day out at the Rochester Primary School.

The classmates enjoyed a picnic lunch at the Rochester Primary School where they continued to reminisce.

Ms Jenkins said that it was great to reconnect with everyone over the two days.
“We all got on at school and it was just so lovely to reignite that connection,” she said.
“We laughed so much over the weekend and it was just such good therapy for everyone.”
Everyone was all smiles as they reunited after many years.

After such a positive response from their fellow classmates, the organising committee have decided to host gatherings every couple of years.
