Victoria’s Positive Start in 2022 program has enabled the school to be involved in camps, swimming programs, cultural experiences and other sports programs in the opening two terms of the school year.
Positive Start is designed to assist school communities in reconnecting, with the Rochester students’ most recent Melbourne excursion giving them an enhanced understanding of the state’s history.
The program provides funding for 10 full days of education and entertainment. The most recent excursion took in the Melbourne Cricket Ground, museums and galleries.
Students from Rochester visited the National Gallery of Victoria and Melbourne Museum and even had a glimpse of legendary Melbourne Cup winner Phar Lap.
Phar Lap’s mounted hide is at the Melbourne Museum, while his skeleton is at the National Museum of New Zealand in Wellington and his heart is at the National Museum of Australia in Canberra.
