During last week, artists from near and far created eight masterpieces, all hoping to take home the top spot.
Each artist followed the theme "It Changed our World", with every artwork taking that prompt to a new level.
Kerry's piece, titled Imagination, depicts a monkey sitting at a desk, surrounded by a range of gadgets and important parts of our lives throughout history.
While Kerry had to make his way back to his home state, his brother Malcolm Nicholson said he was "stoked with the win".
“He told us he had such a great time, he's always loved competing in Rochester,” he said.
“The win meant a lot to him because he loves the town, loves the people and really enjoyed himself.”
Malcolm said Kerry enjoyed other artwork around the countryside before heading home.
“Kerry had always wanted to see the silos at Colbinabbin and he loved them,” he said.
“The area has a great love for art, it's fabulous to see.”
Tongala artists Murray Ross and Jill Conway were awarded the People's Choice award, voted on by the public, and Bendigo artist Nathan Sims (known as Mr Dimples) took home a highly commended.
You can view the artists’ completed works at Mural Park on Moore St.
