Rochy run chase falls seven runs short

Rochester has now lost to Moama twice, in both one-day and two-days formats, and to Kyabram Fire Brigade.

In the final round before the Christmas break it has Leitchville Gunbower in a one day match on Saturday, December 17.

In the new year Rochester has another winless team, Echuca South, to resume the season.

Its six-run loss came after Pat Arnold and Williams added 10 runs for the sixth wicket.

Arnold faced 20 deliviereis, but failed to score as he attempted to support a confident-looking Williams.

Jessie Cuttriss had only one scoring shot, a boundary, before he was the fifth of six Matt Saunders wickets and just four deliveries later Williams was out for 25 without addition to the score.

When Williams left 28 was still needed for victory.

Adrian Pappin looked like he might be the answer, striking two boundaries in a 10 run-14-delivery stay and taking the score to 74 (13 from victory) when he was the ninth man out.

That left just Myles Wade and Lewis Cleary to get Rochester across the line.

They faced almost 10 overs of Moama bowling, Myles unable to score from his 27 deliveries and Cleary scoring four from 30 deliveries before he was the last man out with the Rochester score on 80.

Saunders, fittingly, took the last wicket and finished with 6-25 from 15.4 overs.

Jordan McGregor took the other three wickets (one run out) for Moama.

Moama finished with 8-144 in its 34 over second innings in which Wade and Pappin both took three wickets.

Wade now has 11 wickets from three matches, finishing with seven in the round-eight loss.
