There were 24 new faces as well as returning members as the season started a week later than originally planned after poor weather saw the first event cancelled.
New members are able to test out the program with a two-week trial period.
Club president Gary Milligan said the trial program was a good way to introduce people to the sport.
“Little Athletics is a great way to introduce your child to sport in general,” he said.
“Athletics activity develops co-ordination, flexibility, speed, endurance and strength through walking, running, throwing and jumping. Winning is not everything at Little Athletics.
“The main emphasis is on participation, fun, fitness and striving to improve your own performance.
“Children's results will be available online so that they can follow their progress and performances over the season.”
Every child who is registered and paid by November 10 will have their fees partially reimbursed thanks to a grant from the Elmore/Lockington/Rochester Community Bank.
More details are available on the Little Athletics Victoria website.
Throughout the season, the centre will be running three different programs for participants.

U6: high jump, 60m hurdles, discus, 200m.
