Members of the Corowa Community Men’s Shed arrived at their eagerly anticipated new premises on Honour Avenue recently, only to be met with dismay as vandals wreaked havoc on the property their nearly completed shed.
The community group, known for their dedication to camaraderie and community projects, were left astonished by the sight that greeted them at their Honour Ave premises. Newly planted trees, intended to enhance the aesthetics of the surroundings, were discovered stolen, and a tap left running over the weekend with its fittings nowhere to be found, causing a mess.
Corowa Community Men’s Shed member Graham Withers estimated the damage to be around $500.
“We are very disappointed,” he told the Free Press.
“We've come a long way with the build, and to have some of our hard work destroyed is pretty sad. It’s just not acceptable.”
The new shed, which is nearing completion and expected to be finished in January, has been a symbol of community effort and collaboration. The group had invested time, energy, and resources into creating a space for fellowship and community projects.
The act of vandalism has not only caused financial setbacks but has also left the members disheartened.
Despite this setback, the members of the Corowa Community Men's Shed remain resilient and determined to see their project through to completion.
