Grants between $10,000 and $150,000 are up for grabs for artists and creative organisations as part of the Allan Labor Government’s latest round of the Touring Victoria Program.
The program is an opportunity for local creatives to take their productions, performances, and exhibitions to regional and outer-metropolitan Victoria.
The 2023 round of the Touring Victoria grants supported six companies that toured over 20 destinations throughout the state.
This included regional performances and school workshops by Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Koorie Heritage Trust’s upcoming regional presentation of JXSH MVIR: FOREVER I LIVE, a bright and bold exhibition of work by the late Gunditjmara, Yorta Yorta and Barkindji artist Josh Muir, and the Flying Fruit Fly Circus’s show Tempo, which took the acclaimed youth circus company to audiences across Victoria earlier this year.
As well as providing regional Victorians with diverse arts and cultural experiences, the program helps artists and creative companies build their profile and audience base, and provides an economic boost to the places they tour.
State Member for Northern Victoria Jaclyn Symes encouraged local artists to apply for the grants.
“Through Touring Victoria we are making sure that the best live theatre, music and cultural events can hit the road, and entertain and inspire people here in northern Victoria, and across the state,” she said.
“I encourage local artists and creative companies to apply for grants to take their work to communities across the state, and look forward to more great creative events and experiences touring to northern Victoria in the years ahead.”
Applications for the Touring Victoria Program close August 1 and will support artists and shows hitting the road from December 1.
