Letter to the editor | Vacant homes in Shepparton: a disgraceful neglect

They need to get onto the Department of Housing and get them to fix the empty houses and units in Parkside Estate.

They are left vacant and are getting vandalised, the weeds are about a metre tall, the fences are getting pulled down and some are being used for rubbish dumps.

They have been like this for I don’t know how long now, and it is a disgrace when so many people are wanting somewhere to live.

I thought the aim of the department was to provide housing for the most vulnerable.

Ten-plus years ago we had Parkside Renewal, and there was a lot of money spent on making it a very liveable area.

The funds have dried up, and now the department doesn't care.
