Capping off a strong year of tennis, Rochester 2 comfortably accounted for Echuca South 3 in the section two grand final on Saturday, winning 9-66 to 4-43.
It came after ladder-leader Colbinabbin withdrew from the match in the lead-up.
The team, which won its way through to the grand final after beating Rochester in the semi-final, removed itself from the grand final after realising it had fielded an ineligible player in that victory.
After notifying the CTA, the club removed itself from the game.
Despite the late change in opponents, Rochester premiership player Rod Fielder said the team was "extremely happy" to get the job done on the day.
"It's certainly unfortunate about Colbinabbin, they were going to be extremely tough,” Fielder said.
"We returned to play Echuca South, who we played the week before, and it was a fairly similar result to that game.
"We're very happy. A number of the team haven't won one for a while, especially our ladies, and some of the younger guys in the men's."
After comfortably brushing past Echuca South in the preliminary final the week before, Fielder said the team came in "fairly confident" they could come out on top once again.
"Every day in tennis is different but we certainly knew we were capable of winning,” he said.
"It was just a matter of whatever happens on the day."
With Rochester's men walking away from their singles and doubles matches with a one-game deficit, the team rallied to win seven of the next eight doubles sets to secure the 23-game victory.
With fluctuating winds on the day, Fielder said the team did well to remain steadfast throughout the course of the game.
"It was pretty dusty on the day - and at times the wind didn't affect the play, and at times it did,” Fielder said.
With recent COVID-19 lockdowns wrecking havoc on sport across the region in recent times, Fielder said it was fantastic to get through a full season of tennis relatively unscathed.
"Certainly with COVID, it's been challenging,” he said.
"We missed a week, and in our section we had a bye, so we missed a reasonable amount of tennis for a while.
"But just to be able to play sport, get through a season reasonably well and to finish with the win has been great."
