Kyabram bowled first in the round three Goulburn Murray Cricket clash after the home side won the toss, chose to bat and made an immediate impact when Jackson Barnett removed Robert Trewin for one.
Cooma captain Jake Kelly came to the crease and proved an influential figure, combining with Liam Scopelliti for an 80-run stand until Scopelliti was dismissed for a well-made 53.
Kelly continued to stand tall amid a middle order collapse, which included the loss of three wickets for eight runs and eventually found a partner in Hugo Bell, with a stand of 55 helping Cooma recover to a respectable score.
Kyabram’s Robert Salter eventually found a way through Kelly’s defence; the captain sent packing after piling on a patient 66 from 113 deliveries to salvage his side’s innings.
Cooma finished on 8-192 after 45 overs with the bat and set about making a fast start with the ball.
Brett Andison and Miller Griffiths (9) took to the crease for the Flames.
A steady start came undone with the side on 35, with Bell removing Griffiths and Jake Gascoyne (6) in relatively quick succession to reduce Kyabram to 2-51.
But that was as dicey as things got for the Flames, with partnerships formed for each wicket from there, starting with Andison and Salter.
Putting on 61 for the third wicket, Salter was dismissed for 32 with his side in a good position and, while Andison followed without progressing the score, his 50 at the top was instrumental in laying a path for victory.
Kaine Herbert (34) and Bohden Learmonth (33 not out) were the two new men to the crease, combining for 70 in quick fashion to put the visitors in the box seat for the win.
Herbert was dismissed 10 runs shy of victory, however, the win was all but assured, with the Flames safely across the line with two overs left to play.
Meanwhile, Moama goes top of the ladder after seeing off Leitchville Gunbower by 84 runs.
Vice-skipper Anthony McMahon slashed a ton as Moama posted 7-273 and, despite a resolute opening stand from the combine, it wouldn’t be enough to thwart the visiting side.
Echuca soared to a 145-run win over Tongala which was capped by a Summit Kingar five-for, while Echuca South fell by seven wickets to Bamawm-Lockington United.
Lastly, Rochester was no match for Nondies Cohuna, the latter emerging with a six-wicket victory on home soil.
