Round two of the MFL saw Barooga visit Tongala on Saturday, April 12.
If there was one thing for certain, it was that Barooga was out to chase down its first win of the season after last week’s upset to a rampant Deniliquin Rams outfit saw the Hawks go down by 53 points in the senior grade.
The end of the first quarter saw the hosts up by 20 points despite efforts in front of goal by Barooga’s Sebastian Fotia and Jai Nolan.
Things looked to improve for the Hawks as Tongala scooped behind after behind, yet the half-time siren saw the margin remain at 20 points in favour of the home side.
Barooga scored the only goal in the third quarter to close the margin to 14 points at the beginning of the fourth term.
But fortune turned in Tongala’s favour as the hosts went on to kick a further five between the big sticks with no substantial reply from the Hawks.
The final siren saw the score 12.20.92 to 6.8.44 to Tongala.
Barooga’s reserves outfit had no more luck, falling hard in a 155-point rolling to a classy Tongala outfit.
