The Corowa Power U14s basketball team delivered a commanding performance against the Wodonga Demons on Thursday, walking away with a decisive 21-point victory.
The Power’s combination of defensive intensity, teamwork, and standout individual efforts secured the win and set them up confidently for next week’s final.
The game began with Corowa’s Marshall Lees sinking a free throw first, followed by a smooth two-pointer, setting the tone early.
Corowa took control of the boards and tightened their defence, leaving the Demons struggling to find scoring opportunities.
Harrison Logie, the Power’s dominant centre, quickly made his presence felt by scoring two points and consistently outsmarting the Demons with quick passing and powerful rebounding.
His off-ball movement wore down the defence and gave Corowa the edge in the paint.
On the sidelines, the Power’s teammates showed great support, cheering each other on throughout the game.
The first half wrapped-up with Lees scoring the final points, giving Corowa a solid 21-6 lead at halftime.
The Demons struck first in the second half, but Corowa’s Josh Kremmer wasted no time responding with two points.
Kremmer went on to top the scoring charts with 12 points overall, thanks to his excellent passing IQ and dominant defensive plays, including key blocks and steals.
While the second half saw points traded evenly at times, Corowa maintained their composure.
Finn Le Lievre stole the spotlight with a breathtaking coast-to-coast layup, leaving the Demons in his wake and extending Corowa’s lead.
With just over five minutes left, Coach Jamie Kremmer called a timeout to refocus the team.
Corowa returned to the court stronger, led by Axel Morris, whose quick footwork and sharp ball-handling carved through the Demons' defence.
Morris added four points overall and delivered several pinpoint assists, keeping Power in control.
Cooper Gerhard was another standout, contributing four points and playing an integral role on both ends of the court with his quick reflexes and defensive stops.
Miles Keenes was a vital contributor, showing excellent defensive awareness and creating scoring opportunities with smart passes and playmaking.
As the buzzer sounded, Corowa celebrated a well-earned 39-18 victory, cementing their dominance with a 21-point margin.
The team's performance reflected a mix of individual skill and teamwork.
Special recognition goes to Coaches Jamie Kremmer and Josie Keenes, whose guidance has been instrumental in the team’s success.
The support from parents and carers has also been invaluable, ensuring the boys are well-prepared for every game.
The Power now look ahead to their Grand final clash against the Wodonga Dockers on Thursday, 12 December at 5:00pm on Court 3 in Wodonga.
With the same level of intensity and teamwork, Corowa is poised for another thrilling performance.
Let’s go, Power!
