Playing a two-day fixture on Saturday and Sunday, the Kangaroos were in the box seat to secure their second win of the season after they posted a strong first innings total of 8-291 from 93 overs.
Central Park-St Brendan’s product Connor Hayes was instrumental in the Greenvale batting effort, compiling a patient 32 at the top of the order.
Returning the next day with a healthy total behind them, the Kangaroos then went about bowling Dandenong out, with Archer’s spin pivotal to their chances.
And the Tatura product certainly did not disappoint, bowling a whopping 22.1 overs and taking 3-88 to keep his team in the hunt.
Mooroopna’s Will Dundon also plied his trade with the ball, recording figures of 0-47 from 11 overs.
But in the end it wasn’t enough to secure the victory, with Dandenong opener Tom Donnell striking a classy 93 to see his team to the win.
Elsewhere, Karramomus product Josh McDonald was a standout for Geelong in its 106-run loss to Essendon.
After coughing up a mammoth first innings total of 237, McDonald looked to lead the run chase, with the skipper compiling a tidy 48 to top score for his team.
But unfortunately it wasn’t enough to get the Cats over the line, who were dismissed for 131.
While Katandra’s Daniel Sartori once again played his part in Footscray’s crushing seven-wicket win over Carlton.
Tasked with a big chase of 311, Sartori opened the batting and put together a classy 21 off 42 balls before being run out.
Teammates Dylan Brasher (148 not out) and Travis Dean (116) picked up the slack soon after, however, both hitting centuries to see the Bulldogs to victory for the loss of three wickets.
