Nagambie won the toss and elected to bat at home, and got off to a strong start.
Openers Kayla Shepherd and Amber Langham batted out their allotted 30 balls, with Shepherd raising the bat after blasting a whirlwind unbeaten 52.
Langham played second fiddle, turning over the strike and keeping runs flowing for Shepherd, before leaving the crease on 16 not out.
Kait Carracher and Breanna Davison were the next batters at the crease.
Carracher delivered a captain’s knock, pummelling 10 balls to the boundary and one over the rope in a dominant display, retiring not out on 57.
Kelsey Abbott wasted no time when she arrived in the middle, partnering well with Davison before the latter was undone running between the wickets on 18, thanks to handy work by Taya Munro and Miranda Crawford.
Shelley Houston, with just two balls remaining, scored a boundary and a pair of runs to see out the Lakers’ innings, Abbott and Houston finishing not out on 11 and six, respectively.
Chasing 166 from 20 overs was always going to be a tough ask for Rochester and after starting well, opener Taya Munro pushed for a second after running once and was too ambitious, being run out by Kelsey Abbott and Kayla Shepherd for eight.
The new batter, Imogen Kath, didn’t last long before she was bowled by Kait Carracher for four, with Rochy struggling at 2-19.
Opener Cadence Major retired on 11 not out after batting out her 30 balls on the eve of Rochester’s halfway point, but only four balls later a lapse in concentration saw Hayley Broucek bowled by Kelsey Abbott for a duck.
Wickets began to fall for Rochy periodically, with no batter able to get a start. Miranda Crawford only managed two before she was bowled by Sarah Villinger.
Keely Major and Trinity Hayler held down the fort to see Rochester move into the last quarter of the innings, but both eventually headed back to the sheds within four deliveries of each other on seven and one, respectively.
Nagambie bowler Sharay Silvarich struck twice in as many balls to start the 17th over, bowling both Harriet East and Chelsea Griffiths, with the latter being dismissed for a golden duck.
Breanna Davison trapped Rebecca Wade LBW on the eve of the final over to bring Cadence Major back to the crease. She faced a single ball before Silvarich brought an end to the innings, cleaning up tail-ender Amanda Griffiths for a duck.
Rochester ended up all out for 42, with Cadence Major’s unbeaten 11 the only double-figure score for the visitors.
The Rochester women headed home to lick their wounds before a clash against unbeaten competition heavyweights, Mooroopna Cats, in round seven.
