The Murray Football Netball League has released their fixture for the 2025 season, setting up some massive clashes across the whole season.
One such game to keep an eye on, like every other year, is the game played between the Deni Rams and Finley Cats senior football sides on Good Friday.
This year the fixture between the two ‘old foes’ is scheduled for round three, on Friday, April 18 at Finley.
As has become tradition, it will be a night match.
In this year’s Good Friday clash, the Rams hosted the Cats at the Deniliquin Hardinge St oval.
Deni went down in that match-up, but it was no real surprise considering the strength and depth of Finley throughout the season.
The final score was Deni Rams 05.10 (40) lost to Finley Cats 12.10 (82).
The other clash between the neighbouring rivals in 2025 will also fall on a long weekend, for the King’s Birthday weekend game on Saturday, June 7.
The Cats are also fierce rivals for the Rams’ netball sides.
In the 2024 Good Friday clash, the Deni A-grade side got the win with a score of 62-46.
Another side that always brings the best out in the Rams side is Tongala, whose games with the Rams netballers are, more often than not, instant classics.
The two sides had two encounters this year, the first being a true nail biter, the final scores reading 49-47 in Deni’s favour.
The second game was really not too different, a back and forth clash that saw Deni narrowly escape with victory again, the final scores reading 50-57.
The Murray League season opens on Saturday, April 5, with the Deni Rams away to Barooga.
They get their first home game of the season in round two, against Nathalia.
The 2025 league wide general bye will be on July 5.
The 18 round home and away season will conclude on August 23.
Finals will then get underway with elimination finals on August 30 and 31, semi finals on September 6 and 7, the preliminary on September 13 and the grand final scheduled for September 20.
