Knight was the handicap winner with 228 over three rounds. Williams was nearest-the-pin on the third, fifth and eighth and straightest down the 10th, while Anita Ward played a nice shot to be nearest to the 16th.
Last Wednesday, the men played stableford over the back nine. Veteran sportsman Spencer Broom was back in the winners’ circle, with his fine 21 stableford points enough to hold off president Leigh Hicks and Robert Vise, both on 19 points.
Rochester Electrical sponsored the three-person Ambrose event last Saturday. Part-time golfers Tim Cottam, Scot Wileman and Travis Lee shot six-under off the short course white markers and 62 nett to win from the father-daughter combination of William and Kim Dingwall and sponsor Shane Connally with 72 nett 60 2/6 from Bruce Bryant, David Gebbie and Tim Quinlan (61 2/6), Laurie Radley and John and Lyn Conavan (64) and Ian Pollard, Richard Feuk and Chris Eeles (64 3/6).
Hicks (8), Connally (9) and, on the Campaspe News eagle’s nest 12th hole, Lyn Conavan, took the honours for nearest-the-pins.
Every golfer’s dream is to have a hole-in-one. However, Des Gallagher did the next best by “slam dunking” his second shot from 100m out over the water at Rich Rivers’ 12th hole last Tuesday and winning the day’s event on 39 stableford points.
Bamawm golf
It was a nice day for golf on Sunday at Bamawm for a Yankee competition.
Winners of the day with 77- 8-69 were Darcy Taylor and Sam Frawley. Runners-up were Kieran McAsey and Graham Peat with 80-8.25-71.75.

Next week is president’s day. It will be a stableford round with hit-off from 11am. Schnitzel burgers for tea will be served straight after presentations.
Rochester bowls
On Tuesday, July 25, social bowls will begin at 1pm for anyone interested. All bowlers very welcome — there’s no need to ring the office, just turn up.
Carpet bowls is again being played on Monday nights. Please come and join in.
On July 17, Mick Ellis was back to being a winner once again.
Winners on the night were Kathy Williams, Ellis and Graham Prince.
Friday, July 14 results for 2/4/2 Canadian pairs saw the only two-game winners being Kathy and Alan Williams.
Friday, July 28 will be three-bowl drawn pairs.
