Under-16 Boys
The Under-16s have booked their spot in the 2024 Grand Final with a thrilling win over Kangaroo Flat.
Finals footy brings a different sort of intensity, and it was definitely on display. Rochy made use of centre clearances early on, being able to capitalise with two early goals. However, the rest of the game was a real arm wrestle.
The return of Captain, and league best-and-fairest Darby Martin gave the boys a real confidence boost, with fellow midfielders Cale James, Sam Seabrook and Tom Drust making first use thanks to Darcey Pump in the ruck.
Despite Morgan Boyack going down injured, key forwards Kade Pearse and Jimmy Otto provided sparks in forward 50, while the skills of Ben Hewes were well and truly on display.
With such a close encounter, the defence was under pressure for a lot of the game, but certainly held their own. Curtis Howard, Jack Brennan and Lachie Smith were fantastic when the ball was in the air, while Jake Munro, Jackson Morgan and Cal Giffen fought hard to send the ball back out.
Late goals from Ben Hewes and Jimmy Otto sealed the deal for the 16s, who are now just one win away from a premiership. A fantastic all-round team performance gives the boys a shot at making their own history.
