Deniliquin won the toss and elected to bat.
The Saints’ bowling was bolstered with the return of Rory Bartlett (3-51), returning from a long-term injury.
His extra pace had instant success with Bartlett claiming both openers Boddie Arthur (2) and Griegan French (7) both caught in the slips cordon to have the Saints on top at 2-21 early.
However, Andrew Hogan (50) Brad Todd (66) and Brodie Bennett (83) consolidated the Rhinos’ innings after weathering the Saints’ bowling attack, taking the aerial route hitting with the strong wind and utilising the fast outfield for boundaries.
Matt Taylor (26), Kai Hillier (15) and Monte Barnes (22) kept the pressure on the Saints in the field.
Their running between wickets took the score to 9-285 after 45 overs, with Rowan Frazer on one not out and Lachlan Holloway six not out.
Connor Thornton claimed 3-37, Jacob Bartlett 2-59 and Lachlan Whelan claimed 1-10 for the Saints.
In reply the Saints struggled to get partnerships started, with constant wickets falling.
